I recently embarked on an adventure to try on a bunch of different sizes of clothing items in the women’s section in an effort to see just how wild women’s sizing can really be. I also just needed pants. So I went to Macy’s and began my perusal of the Juniors and Women’s sections and here’s what I found out:
In Juniors, I fit into about four different sizes and it’s almost never the same one two times in a row. I found a lovely dress in a size 1 that fit me perfectly, but in another brand I found the perfect little black dress in a size 3. In pants, I can fit anywhere from a size 3 to a size 7, and the same goes for shorts. Shirts are a little more predictable, I always fit into a size XS or S, unless it’s Japanese sizing, in which case I can go up to a medium since their sizing runs so small.
Women’s is almost always an adventure that fails. I don’t know if maybe it’s because I don’t feel like an adult yet and so I feel like I’m playing dress up in women’s clothing or if it’s just that the clothes actually don’t fit, but something about women’s sizes are just always a little…off? Maybe me being so petite has something to do with it, but I almost never find things in the women’s section that fit, and if I do then it’s usually a jacket, blazer, or dress. Never pants, and never shirts.
